 I LOVE being a teacher and look forward to a great year ahead! I truly enjoy working with young students. They make incredible progress during the school year and have such wonderful enthusiasm!

I love working with children who are just developing a lifelong love of learning along with their contagious smiles and enthusiasm.

 I love witnessing their growth and observing how their personalities bloom.

I am so excited to start this journey of learning and growing alongside my kindergarteners!

 I have an educational background in early childhood education and love singing silly songs with my students.

I love working with Kindergarten!

 I am so excited to be returning to work with our cute kinder kids!

 I teach 1st grade part time in a job-share with Mrs. Sorenson.

My true joy is nurturing young minds, helping them become skilled readers and writers.

My love of reading led me to obtain a Master of Arts in Reading with an Emphasis in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. I am a lifelong learner and began my teaching career following retirement from the grocery industry after 37 years.

I taught high school German for 3 years before coming to Summit Academy. This is my 10th year here at Summit Academy.

 I love teaching reading and math and having fun while we learn.

Summit Academy is my home.

This will be my second year at Summit Academy. I love it here and especially love teaching 2nd grade!

Hello! I’m Miss. Bettridge and I am so excited to teach 3rd grade at Summit this year!

  I'm an avid reader and am always looking for good book suggestions . . . . I also love animals and family history, and I have a reputation for making the best pies there are!

Teaching has always been my passion.  I'm constantly striving to inspire students to love all subjects, but most importantly love themselves. I also believe that there are more things to life than just academics. I truly enjoy getting to know my students and building meaningful relationships. School should ALWAYS be a fun place to be! 

My motto is: It's okay to make mistakes, have bad days and not be perfect but always believe in yourself and don’t give up!

 I love to inspire children, teach them new things and get them excited about learning.

 This is my second year teaching and I know it's going to be a GREAT one!

Fifth grade is my favorite—there’s nothing like it! 

My favorite subject to teach is history and helping students get excited about learning. I feel lucky to work at such a great school. Outside of school, I enjoy biking with my husband, spending time with my three boys, and playing catch with our dog, Bernie.

 I love learning myself and am currently working on getting my Technology and English Language Learners endorsements.

This is my 4th year teaching DLI German at Summit but I have been a teacher for almost 20 years.

I think Summit Academy is wonderful and I have truly enjoyed working here! 

 I also love to read and usually read around 100 books each year.

 This is my 16th year teaching 6th grade–my 9th at Summit Academy.  Summit is an amazing place to be, and teaching is my passion!

 I am looking forward to gaining a lot of experience, meet interesting new people and learn so much myself.

 My children have all attended Summit Independence and participate in the German program here. This is my 8th year teaching, 5th at Summit.

Education is my passion. I have taught in the elementary classroom for 28 years.

I look forward to getting to know the students and watching them learn and grow!

My desire to help young people succeed in life, led me to Summit Academy Independence where I am in my second year working as a reading interventionist and teaching Academic Literacy.

I was an Assistant Strength Coach with the Washington Redskins, the Baltimore Ravens, the USA Bobsled Team.

 Introducing children to the written word is my passion.  I want your child to grow to love reading as much as I do, which is a lot!
