Work Release

Work Release
Work Release is a program that gives students the opportunity to receive training in off-campus careers and technical jobs. Students can receive school credit for the employment they do outside of school. ​Work release is a pass/fail class available to Juniors (up to 2 periods per semester) and Seniors (up to 4 periods per semester) for elective credit. Students must be legally employed and receive an official payroll check. Students must work 5 hours per week for EACH class period of work release (4 class periods would be 20 hours of work per week). Once your paperwork has been returned, your counselor will then add work release to your schedule ONLY after paperwork has been submitted. What is YouScience? ​YouScience uses a series of brain games to measure your aptitudes (abilities most Important to career success). The results include a review of your natural strengths and interests, and matching to 500+ careers (with detailed information about each career like salary, a day-in-the-life, etc). Check out this video to learn more about how YouScience can help you plan for college and career success: Youscience Parent Page Students do not need a passcode to access Youscience and can sign up with any active email address. Need help narrowing down colleges, programs, and majors? Youscience can help their college databases have all that information as well as a My College Planner to help you stay on track your entire high school career.

MTEC Mountainland Technical College offers more than 40 training programs that prepare students for career placement. Seniors and sometimes Juniors may take classes on campus and receive technical certificates. Summit Academy High School students can receive high school CTE credit and SAHS will pay a portion of tuition.
