Summit Academy
I grew up in Sparks, Nevada and graduated with my Elementary Education Degree from Brigham Young University in 1998. I taught in what was then the Jordan School District for two years before moving to Phoenix, Arizona. I opened and ran a preschool in the Phoenix area for several years before my husband’s job brought us back to Utah. We have been in Draper since 2007 and I have been a Summit Academy parent for most of those years. Two years ago, I started working at Summit Academy as a teaching assistant in Kindergarten. This was a wonderful way to get my “ feet wet” and dust off my teaching skills. I fell in love with Summit Academy as a parent and have been impressed to see the school from the perspective of an employee. I’m thrilled to return to teaching my own class this year.
I have been married for 22 years and have 4 children ranging in age from 14 to 21 as well as a sweet dog named Grendel and a grumpy cat named Oreo. I love music -- I sing with the Utah Chamber Artists and the Utah Symphony and play the piano. I love running, reading, and traveling, and stay busy staying on top of teenagers’ schedules.
In this classroom Kindergarteners work hard and play hard! Since we are an above grade level reading class, we will be working quickly to master new concepts. If you ever feel like your child is becoming frustrated with the workload and pace, please let me know. It is my goal to make sure that my classroom is a safe, challenging, and fun environment for each child.
Please always feel free to reach out to me either through email (cami.talbot@summitacademyschools.org) or in person. I believe you are the expert on your child and want to partner with you to best support them.
I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
