Dear Summit Academy Families,
We hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and enjoyed some extra time with family and friends. As we move into a busy and exciting September, we wanted to share a few important reminders and celebrations from around our school.
Tomorrow is our annual SPO-sponsored "Donuts with Grown Ups" event! This has become one of our favorite school traditions, and last year was an incredible success with so many parents, grandparents, and other special grown-ups joining us. We are grateful to our amazing SPO for organizing this wonderful gathering each year.
Because of the event's popularity, please be aware that we anticipate significant traffic congestion and limited parking as we work to accommodate our large crowd. We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone arrives and departs safely. The excitement and community spirit this event brings to our school make it well worth the extra planning, and we look forward to seeing many of you there.
Our fall sports season continues this week and next as our teams compete both at home and on the road against other schools. We have been especially proud of the outstanding sportsmanship demonstrated by our student-athletes. It is wonderful to see them competing with enthusiasm while also showing kindness, respect, and graciousness toward their opponents. Thank you to our coaches, athletes, and families for representing Summit Academy so well.
Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 16, which will be our School Picture Day. We encourage students to come looking their best for their annual school photos. This will be a FREE dress for K-5th grade and for those JH students that did not take their picture at Registration. Please see the information below to order your picture online.
Also on September 16, we will hold our Annual Title I Meeting during our regularly scheduled SPO meeting at 11:00 a.m. We invite all families to attend and learn more about our Title I program and the supports available to our students.
Finally, our first Parent-Teacher Conferences are approaching quickly on September 23 and 24. These conferences provide an important opportunity for families and teachers to work together in supporting student success. We look forward to meeting with each of you and discussing your child's growth and progress.Thank you for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful to be part of such a caring and engaged school community.

Hello, Summit Academy Families!
I’m Ms. Missy, your resident Art Guru, and I am so excited to welcome you back—or welcome you to Summit Academy and the Art Department for the first time!
My goal this year is to help students discover new ways of looking at the world, build their artistic skills, and explore a variety of creative mediums. I truly believe art is everywhere and can be found in everything we do! I want students to leave the art room feeling inspired, confident, curious, and excited to create.
🐾 Meet Our Special Art Helper: Ms. Moon!
Once a month, we have a very special visitor—Ms. Moon, my multicolored Mini Schnauzer! She will visit during the last week of each month and sport a new color to match the artist or theme we are studying. She is hypoallergenic, very well trained, and has quickly become a favorite incentive and positive addition to our art community. If you have any concerns, please reach out.
🎨 Our First Artist: Vincent van Gogh
We are kicking off the year with my favorite artist, Vincent van Gogh! Students will learn about his life, his unique style, and how he looked at the world differently. I can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them!
I would also love to hear about the art your students have created over the summer. Please encourage them to share their ideas, creations, and artistic discoveries with me!
I’ll be sharing student artwork and projects throughout the year on our Art webpage, which is included in the link below. I encourage you to visit it with your children and ask them about what they are learning. Those conversations at home can make such a meaningful difference and help make art a part of your family’s everyday life.
