Mandy Checketts

504 Coordinator
Bluffdale Campus K-6

Ever since I started teaching, I have been passionate in my commitment to three things: maximizing individual student performance, inspiring students’ interest for learning, and instilling a sense of self-worth among all students. I have dedicated my career to each of these pursuits, and that is why I feel honored to be working at Summit Academy who shares my vision. Summit is a school that is passionate about what they do, works above and beyond for their students, and is well known for their explicit services.

It is because of my great experiences and amazing teachers in school that I am inspired to create an atmosphere of empowerment with kids to help them realize their potential. My teachers helped me realize that one person can make a difference-- that I can make a difference; as a result, I want to instill that same sense of self-worth in students I teach. “I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything; but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do the something I can do,” (Helen Keller). It is my personal mission to strive to do all the “somethings” I can.

On a personal level, I have over twenty years of educational work experience; a BA degree in Liberal Studies from Cal State Long Beach, and a Masters of Education from Southern Utah University. I love to travel, try new restaurants and recipes, weight-train, and read. I have a wonderful husband and two sweet kids, who are actually adults now.
