A big thank you to all of our parents who participated in our reunification drill. We would use this procedure if we needed to send our students home from an alternate location. It is quite involved and takes some time to verify the parent release information. If you didn’t participate in the drill you can prepare for an emergency by looking over your Aspire parent account and verifying that you have the correct release information. We can only release students to the adults that you have listed in your Aspire account. Knowing that this information is correct will give some peace of mind should we ever have an actual emergency. Knock on wood!
As we head out for Fall break, I want to ask everyone to include literacy in their plans. Reading aloud a beloved family novel or streaming a favorite book helps to pass those long hours in the car. If your plans include grandma or grandpa, certainly feel free to ask them to bring along their favorite bedtime stories to share with the kids at bedtime. Grandmas and Grandpas will do anything for the grandkids! Enjoy the break and we’ll see you back on Tuesday, October 20th.

What if...? Writing & Illustration Contest entries due
Student pictures were sent home today will all students. Be sure to check your childs backpack. If you feel that a retake would better capture your student’s essence, Bell photography is more than happy to retake your student’s image on picture retake day. Simply return your students completed package to the photographer on retake day Bell photography will produce the new package from the retake image. Only students who are returning picture packets for a new image, students who have prepaid online for pictures OR students who were absent on picture day will be called down for retakes. Students getting retakes may wear FREE Dress of their choosing on this day for pictures. As always, dress code standards still apply.
This year, our school will once again will create a school ofrenda to help students learn about and appreciate Día de los Muertos, a meaningful cultural tradition observed on November 1 and 2 in many Mexican and Latin American communities.
An ofrenda is more than a decoration. It is a special space created to honor, remember, and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed away. One of the most meaningful elements of an ofrenda is the photograph of a loved one who has passed away. Families are invited to participate by sending a photograph of a family member or loved one who has passed to be displayed on the ofrenda. If you would like to participate, please put your student’s name and your teacher’s name on the back of the photographs and turn them into the office by October 23. Feel free to come view our ofrenda anytime from Oct. 26- Nov.2.

We’re thrilled to kick off our last fundraiser of the year with the ever-popular Wasatch Savings Fundraiser Cards. This is a fantastic way to support our school and save money at local businesses across the state. Our Wasatch Savings Fundraiser is one week only and will begin on Nov. 2. More details to come!
Students are invited to let their imaginations soar in our What If...? Writing & Illustration Contest! Create an original story or artwork inspired by your own "What if...?" question, such as What if dinosaurs came back? or What if we had to move to the moon? This is a great project to work on during Fall Break. Entries are due Friday, November 6 and should be turned in to your teacher. The top 3 entries in each grade will be recognized and receive prizes at Literacy Night on November 18! Be sure to check your students backpack, flyers went home on monday.
