This week we are holding our traditional charitable giving activity, Penny Wars. Students can start digging through their couch cushions and their parents’ pockets and bring all of that extra change to school. Grades will compete against each other for the most money earned. The grade that brings in the most money will win a hot chocolate party. 100% of the money will go towards helping families in our community during the holiday season. This is such a fun activity for our students and a great way to help them be involved in the holiday spirit of giving. Thank you, parents, for supporting your students in our charitable giving. Penny Wars lasts only one week, and we’ll announce the winners next Monday.
I’m looking forward to meeting with the parents of our students who are learning English as their second language. This EL Parent Night will be held this coming Wednesday, December 4th from 6:00-7:00 in the library.
Please be looking for a separate email that will contain your Intent to Return for the 2025-2026 school year. We use this paperwork to reserve your student’s spot for next year. It should be coming out this month and must be completed if your student is returning to Summit or not. Thank you for working with us to help your children thrive and succeed.

With the Holiday season approaching and all the fun classroom or school events happening, we want to remind you that all visitors and volunteers must check in and out with the front office while school is in session. All visitors and volunteers will need to provide the office with a physical driver's license, state, or government issued ID featuring a name, photo, birthdate, and ID number. A sticker will be created with the person’s name and input into our Raptor Technology system with the destination, date, and time of your visit. If at any time a potential threat is identified, Raptor Technology will notify administrators immediately and authorities will be contacted. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, please be sure to bring appropriate identification before heading out of your home to visit our school. Any persons who cannot provide proper identification will not be permitted beyond the office doors
With colder temperatures expected, we wanted to reach out and remind families of the challenges that arise with winter weather.
Inclement Weather Conditions
In the event that winter weather is so extreme that road conditions become unsafe, Summit Academy and Summit Academy High School will announce one of two alternate schedules:
Be sure to check the Summit Academy website or follow your specific campus Facebook or Instagram pages for immediate updates. Also, be alert for emails or automated phone calls which will be sent if the schedule is adjusted due to any future inclement weather predictions. We ask that you add @summitcademyschools.org, @usoe-dcs.org and @blackboard.com to your email safe senders list so you don’t miss out on any potential emergency notifications.
Weather Appropriate Clothing
Please remember to send your students in warm outerwear. Students go outside 2 or 3 times each day and we want them to be comfortable while they are outside in the cold weather. We are careful to watch the air quality each morning and have procedures in place for unhealthy days. Click the link to for a great visual on Dressing for Cold Weather
We ask that all parents keep an eye in their email for the 2025-2026 “Intent to Return” that will be sent out in the next couple of weeks. The Intent to Return reserves your child’s placement at Summit Academy for the upcoming 2025-26 school year and acts as a “pre-registration” for your current students at our campus. All families are required to complete the Intent to Return. You will need to have a parent account in Aspire to complete this. Click Here for instructions on how to create a parent account. Contact the front office if you need assistance finding your student’s SIS number.
Our lost & found is overflowing with some amazing winter coats and jackets. Please have your students stop and look for items they may have lost or misplaced. All items will be donated to the local clothing shelter at the end of the Second Quarter on Friday, December 20th.
