Staff Changes for 2018-2019 School Year

We are excited to announce several changes in our organization at Summit Academy for the 2018-2019 school year. Mr. Tyler Whittle, current principal of our Draper campus and K-8 executive director, will now become K-12 executive director and will no longer serve as principal of the Draper campus.

As K-12 director, Mr. Whittle will be able to help unify the vision for all of our Summit Academy campuses, including Summit Academy High School. This will allow Ms. Natalie Call, who currently serves as both principal of Summit Academy High School and 9-12 executive director, to focus exclusively on working with our students and educators as high school principal.

Mr. Gary Tucker, who is currently serving as assistant principal of the Draper campus, will now be appointed as principal. Mr. Tucker has over seven years of education experience and previously taught chemistry and biology at Summit Academy High School before joining the Draper campus in 2017.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Paul Lundberg as the new assistant principal who will work alongside principal Mr. Tucker. Mr. Lundberg has eleven years of experience as an elementary school  principal. He began his teaching career in 1995 in Idaho Falls, Idaho and taught elementary and middle school grades for twelve years. For the past eleven years, he has served as elementary school principal in Pavilion, Wyoming and most recently in Rigby, Idaho. Mr. Lundberg is excited to serve the students, parents, and staff of Summit Academy.

Mrs. Karen Johnson, who is currently serving as assistant principal of the Draper campus and Director of Curriculum, will step into her new role as Director of Student Achievement. She will help develop, implement, and support the academic achievement and growth at all Summit Academy and Summit Academy High School campuses. Mrs. Johnson has over eight years of experience as a licensed administrator in both elementary and secondary schools.

Mrs. Diana Brantley, who currently served as assistant principal at the Independence campus, has been appointed as principal of the Bluffdale campus. As one of Summit Academy‚Äôs Founding Advisory Council Members and 1st grade teachers, Mrs. Brantley taught at the Draper campus from when Summit Academy first opened its doors in 2004 until 2014. Then in 2014, she helped open the Independence campus as assistant principal.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Dustin Evenson as new assistant principal of the Independence campus. Mr. Evenson has nine years of teaching experience at the elementary and middle school levels. Mr. Evenson is excited to work alongside principal Mrs. Lisa Cutler and meet the great students, families, and teachers of Summit Academy - Independence.
