Summit Academy Independence Charter School Giving Project -Brighten the World, is a community giving service project that families participate in every year. Roughly ten families are chosen and provided with gifts for the holiday season. Many of these families are in our own school community, but it is not limited to those. We have helped families not attending our school as well. Each family is given a reindeer nickname like “Dasher Family” to keep each family private. Ornaments are placed on the Christmas tree where students, parents, and teachers can pick as many ornaments as they would like.
Students look forward to this every year and for many weeks leading up to displaying the tree with the ornaments, the families anticipate being of service.
Executive Director, Michael Clark said, “This is such a great service project. The kids get excited to see this come to light. Serving others has really helped our students feel good about what they are doing and this time of year. There are so many people that could use that extra little help.”
December 14th is the deadline to collect for this Brighten the World Service Project. If you would like to contribute to this event, stop by the office at Summit Academy Independence Charter School campus.
