Why are Charter Schools gaining popularity?

Charter schools are gaining popularity because of their flexible curriculum and students are thriving because of it.

Charter schools have smaller class sizes, so it allows students to get the one-on-one attention of their teachers. Kids are learning and seem to be better for it.

Charter schools have been effective in bringing about an improvement in the performance of students.

Charter schools place a greater emphasis on bringing about innovation in teaching methods.

Traditionally, a good school is characterized by teachers with advanced degrees, a small class size, and allocation of sufficient funds to meet every student’s educational needs. However, with the emergence of charter schools in the year 1992 (the first school opened), an attempt to improve the process of teaching was made. Today, there are more than 1.2 million students studying in over 4,000 charter schools in the United States. Summit Academy is one of those schools located south of the Salt Lake Valley and serving surrounding areas of Draper, Bluffdale, Sandy and South Jordan. For the first time since it’s opening of the four campuses’, there is an opportunity to enroll your student. In the past, they have been full to capacity, but recently, they have expanded to be able to take on more.

Summit Academy is a STEM curriculum. Which is based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines – science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to learning that provides hands on and relevant learning experiences for students.

A quality STEM education makes a difference — not only to the students it prepares but to the economy on a domestic and global scale. STEM disciplines foster curiosity and creativity while providing higher salaries and creating high-demand careers.
